Tim Burton's exhibition was really interesting. My favorite part was being able to see his work before he became famous and started creating movies for Disney. There were hilarious dark comics, his high school portfolios and a rejection letter from Disney regarding a child's book he wrote. There were a bunch of original characters and set pieces from all of his movies, directors notes, vision sketches and paintings. It was really amazing to see the creative process laid out and his movies in chronological order. You could see his development as an artist, and see the themes throughout his career.
Unfortunately the place was mad crowded, and you could hardly move around comfortably. But cool story: so I'm standing there reading the afore mentioned rejected child's book and I turn around face to face with Ben Stiller who said to his tour guide, "Yea, I really want to see this rejection letter! How funny!" BANANAS. He was right there, like within hugging distance. He's a lot shorter than I imagined, and actually pretty good looking.
Today I Abby and I did a nice semi-ridge hike out by Fort Hunter near Harrisburg. It was a great simple hike that lead out to a clearing where there were power lines. We could have continued up a second ridge to get a rumored spectacular view of the city, but it looked really steep and the rocks/dirt unstable. So we opted out. But we had fun checking out a random boat that was just left out in the middle of the clearing on the side of the ridge. How strange indeed.
